Review of the week's top stories and new music by E. Jean-Pierre

This past week has been interesting as far as what's going on in the world. From violence to high profile lawsuits, a lot of news for people to keep up with. Here were some of the headlines from this past week.

NYC man opens fire outside Empire State Building

After being fired from his job at Hazan Import Corp last year Jeffrey Johnson decided that he wanted to get revenge on his former boss Steve Ercolino. Johnson opened shot and killed Ercolino right outside the Empire State Buildong in New York City. Shortly after he gunned down Ercolino he was gunned down by police (Johnson is pictured above laying dead on the sidewalk). There were 9 others injured in the shooting but no one is sure whether they were all hit by bullets from Johnson's gun or hit by the hail of police gunfire at Johnson. Lance Armstrong to be stripped of achievements

After years and years of fighting doping allegations, Lance Armstrong has finally gave up. He ended his battle against the USADA but didn't confess to anything. What this means is that even though Lance isn't confessing to doping, he is pretty much giving the USADA the right to take his 7 Tour de France titles away. I personally don't know what to believe but it definitely is disappointing to see the most decorated cyclist in history go down like this. Get more details on the story here...

Anders Breivik sentenced for last year's massacre
Norway-Massacre_Horo3-635x357.jpg
Many of you might remember last July when Norwegian man Anders Breivik bombed a government building in Oslo then murdered 68 people on Utoya Island in Norway. it was probably one of the biggest acts of terror by one man in history. On Friday Breivik was sentenced to 21 years in prison for his crimes. Too bad he wasn't tried in Texas where he would've got the death sentence and probably executed in the courtroom that same day. Breivik smiled after receiving his sentence and did not feel an ounce of regret. A man who can kill so many people and smile in a courtroom makes me really believe that the world is coming to an end. This man is a horrible representation of Norwegian people, and is a shame to such a great country. Read more about Breivik's sentence here...

The rich get richer...Apple wins case against Samsung
Apple-vs-Samsung-lawsuit.jpg

Apple already has the tech world in a strangle hold but after a judge's ruling in their case against Samsung on Friday, that hold just got tighter. Samsung was ordered to pay Apple 1.05 billion dollars in damages for infringing on Apple's design and utility patents. Certain features you see on smartphones like pinch to zoom and the bounce-bakc effect when scrolling were all ideas of Apple that were stolen by Samsung. Now ideas are only ideas and can be stolen unless they are patented, which Apple did. When patents are involved others have to pay you to use your ideas which Samsung did not. Samsung was also accused of stealing the design of the iPad to use for their tablets. Well Apple gets richer and Samsung falls further behind them in the war of tech companies.
