London 2012: Day 14-15 recap

It feels like the Olympics started yesterday but its already over. I cant believe it. Anyway a lot has happened, some unexpected and some surprising. At the Olympics and World Championships people expect to see great things to happen and all the athletes bringing their A-game. Of course there is always somebody who doesn't care like we discussed previously in one of our posts, about the Chinese badminton girls who on purpose wanted to lose. Beside that its all about winning, making history and getting that GOLD medal.

Mo Farah, or should I say Sir Mo Farah, maybe Lord Mo Farah. I don't know. Here in London, its all about Team GB, the UK crowd are behind their athletes to the fullest. So when Mo got his first Gold Medal in the 10k last week, already the expectations and the pressure were there for him to bring home the Gold in the 5k. Became an Double Olympic Champion. Remind you that, that never happen in British history in athletics. Not never. Therefore if Mo did it, he wouldn't only become one of the greatest in Olympics history, but also one of the greatest that has ever been in UK history. With a 52.9seconds lap after 4600m, he was untouchable, the crowd all on their feet, the hunger to the finish line got bigger and bigger, he kept looking to side to see if anyone was closing on him. But it was too late for anybody to catch him, he brought the Gold home. If you are British or Mo fan, was that a good feeling or what. I personally was speechless. That was emotional, and for everybody who being there, was part of something great.

Did anyone think that the U.S.A were going to win the mens 4x100m? I thought so after how they cruised in to a new national record in the semis. BUT they did not, Jamaica with Usain Bolt in the anchor leg made history. New Olympic Record, 36.84s. Usain Bolt ran 8.8seconds in the anchor leg, can you believe it? Huge win for Jamaica and Usain Bolt.

Pop the Champaign...Celebration time baby....

Party with the Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit....um thats an Honor...

Crown Prince Haakon of Norway at the party

Ja Vi Elsker Dette Landet......thats the beginning of the Norwegian national anthem. Yes, the Norwegian Women Handball team beat Montenegro 26-23 and won the GOLD. Little bit after that Usain Bolt said "I wanna part with them", and off course he was invited by the girls.

Gold Medal Game was the best game in the Olympic Men's Basketball. USA and Spain went head to head in a crucial game. Paul Gasol and team Spain fought hard, and made almost everything tough for team USA. Missing shots and freetrowers by team USA, but gathered themselves in the last quarter and won 107-100.
Yeah you are #1
Nicole Adams becomes first ever winner of an Olympic Women's boxing Tournament. The 29 year old made history.

Well done by the young Keshorn Walcott from Trinand and Tobago for becoming first Olympic Champion from that tiny little island. Wonderful isn't it. He is 19 year old and Olympic Champion. Not only that, he beat former World Champions and Olympic Champions who were there at the games like World Champion Tero Pitkämäki from Finland and 2-time Olympic Champion Andreas Thorkildsen from Norway. It was kind of a disaster, the winner had 84.68meters which is far from what the winner has on regular Diamond League Meeting. I guess it wasn't the big guys day, it was Walcott's day. Go Trinand and Tobago!
