NBA Champion Lamar Odom to LA again?

Double-Check of the week! He was drafted by the Clippers in 1999, then he went to this years NBA champions EL HEAT in 03-04 season. From 04-2011 he played for the Los Angelas Lakers, where in 2011 he became Sixth Man of the Year. With the lockout issues and a lot of other things going on 2011-2012 season he was sent to Dallas Mavericks, which ended up pretty chaotic. He clearly did not want to play for them. I fully understand where he was coming from. "It's all business" like they say. He decided to leave in the middle of the season. Now finally, Lamar Odom has signed with the team that drafted him back in 1999 (4th overall pick in round 1), where he will be playing next to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.
Lamar Odom

Its going to be UGLY in LA...... I'm looking forward to the next season already!

That been said....

Rumors are going around that future Hall of Famer Ray Allen might join LeBron James and Dwayne Wade. Just rumors so far.......But what if he did? Or another question will D Stern let him? He didn't let All-Star Cp3 go to Lakers, could this be the same issue if Ray decides to join the El Heat?
Looks better than the green jersey?

US Olympic Trials: Richard Lowe

A while back Abdi Guleed introduced you guys to Richard Lowe who is a former University of Memphis Track & Field athlete and also a former All-American. Richard had been going to meets with the U of M squad to qualify for the U.S.A. Olympic trials. Having accomplished that, Mr. Lowe has arrived in Eugene, Oregon and is preparing for the preliminary round of the 400m hurdles Thursday June 28th. I caught up with Richard and had a quick interview about how things are going and his plans for his race.

Guy Hudson: Hey Richard, how was the trip to Eugene?

Richard Lowe: It was pretty good and very interesting. I had the same connecting flight from Utah with fellow hurdler David Oliver which was pretty cool. I also met family members of several different athletes and got to talk to them about the sacrifices they make to support their loved ones.

Guy Hudson: That sounds pretty cool. Now this is your 3rd time running at Hayward Field (Richard also ran there for the 2010 NCAA championships and 2011 USA Championships). Has anything changed or is it the same as the other years?

Richard Lowe: There are some changes. I noticed that they have added more seats to the stadium and they are building new practice facilities around the campus for different sports teams like track, football etc...

Guy Hudson: Wow. Anyways Richard, how do you feel going into your race?

Richard Lowe: Well when I first got here, saw all the great athletes and the opponents in my heat I was a little intimidated but...I had a good practice session today and my confidence is up. I have some studs in my heat such as Kerron Clement, Johnny Dutch and Joshua Anderson but I am confident that I can hang with those guys.

Guy Hudson: Do you have a specific strategy for the race?

Richard Lowe: Well I am in lane 8, which is not ideal, but I'm not surprised. I've been put in bad lanes before so this is nothing new. I want to get out fast because those guys will be chasing, but I'll make sure to save something for a kick at the end when everyone else starts making moves.

Guy Hudson: Now how do you feel about lane 8? Do you like being chased or do you prefer the inside lane where you can do the chasing?

Richard Lowe: it doesn't matter. I just adjust my strategy based on my lane. Going up against a field this good maybe it's best for me to be on the outside so I can just run my race instead of looking at everyone up ahead and running their race.

Guy Hudson: What are your goals for the trials other than qualifying for London of course?

Richard Lowe: to be honest making to London isn't the main goal here. I want to run at least 48.8 if not faster. I also hope to get enough exposure to get signed by some sort of sponsor and become a professional. I would take those two goals over London, but making it to London would be nice as well.

Guy Hudson: Speaking of those goals, lets take a quick look into the near future. What are your plans for after trials?

Richard Lowe: What I do after trails all depends on how I do at trials. If I achieve my goals then it will be straight back to Memphis so I can get back to training, if not then I'll probably head home to Kansas City and think about what's next for me.

Guy Hudson: Even if you achieve your goals, wouldn't you still go back home for a quick break to hang out with your family?

Richard Lowe: That would be nice but if I go home I might get too comfortable and not go back to Memphis haha.

Guy Hudson: Haha well Richard it's been nice catching up with you. Good luck in your race and we're all rooting for you to make it to London and get signed.

Richard Lowe: Thanks bro.

Relationship Advice: Who to listen to and who not to listen to!

These days when it comes to relationships it seems like everyone thinks they're an expert. It is a topic that everyone wants to put their 2 cents in. Everybody is convinced that they know what they're talking about and that what they think is the way to go. Let's be honest though, it's all an opinion. The fact that most people have different things to say is proof that no one person's advice is more legit than the other. I'm not here to give you relationship advice but I am going to give you advice on who to listen to and who not to listen to. So pretty much I'm giving you advice on where to find good advice. I've broken it down into a few simple rules. BRACE YOURSELF.......

Rule number 1...NEVER take advice from someone who is single and has never been in a relationship longer than a few months. There is a reason why they are single and don't have long relationships and that reason is that they don't know what they're doing. Be careful around those clowns.

Rule number 2....Be careful when taking advice from someone who is in a relationship but seems miserable. Just because they are in a relationship that might have been going for a while doesn't mean they know what a good relationship is. There is a chance that they might be forcing it just so they won't be alone.

Rule number 3...Don't think that taking advice from the opposite sex means that it's great advice. Fellas, don't take advice from a female about how to treat your girlfriend unless you really trust that other girl. Ladies, don't take advice from dudes that are used to getting their way or guys that are extremely feminine/emotional. One is going to tell you to just give your boyfriend what he wants and the other is going to tell you to ask your boyfriend to talk about his emotions and have a long heart to heart. That's just stupid.

Rule number 4....Be careful when asking a friend for advice. Your friends might want what's in your best interest but a lot of times all they're good for is telling you to confront your partner which usually leads to relationship ending arguments. Just sayin......

Rule number 5....Older married couples usually offer good advice. If your parents or maybe an aunt and uncle have been together for a while then chances are they know what it takes to make a relationship last. Well at least they know how to get through rough times and stick together.

Rule number 6...Always get a 2nd, 3rd and even 4th opinion. Hear what multiple people have to say before you make any moves. I mean you wouldn't buy the first car you see from the first dealership you go to, would you?

Final rule...Sometimes it's best to trust your instincts. Your own advice to yourself might be the best situation. If people often tell you that you're a good person with good morals, and you have a great personality then you're doing something right. It doesn't mean you're an expert on relationships but it does mean that you most likely won't do anything stupid to mess it up.

The moral of the story here is that everyone is quick to chime in and give relationship advice but at the end of the day it's all opinion so don't be so quick to believe just anybody. Thanks for reading, good luck finding good relationship advice but don't come to me looking for it. My job here is done.

YES, WIMBLEDON 2012

From June 25 to July 8th 2012 (Coming week), Wimbledon is going to take off. Excitement, curiosity and expectations all in one. Who is going to win, who want it more, who needs to win and who reaches the unexpected will be answered. Get ready all you Tennis fans, its about to go down!!! I'm ready to see Roger Federer who has won the US Open five times in row (04,05,06,07 and 08). He is currently ranked # 3 but that can change anytime in Wimbledon. He needs to keep his eyes on Rafael Nadal who is reigning Olympic Gold Medalist (2008), and who also won Wimbledon twice (08 and 2010). On the women side, Maria Sharapova from Russia who won the French Open in 2012 and also ranked # 1 in the world as of right now. We can't forget the reigning two time Olympic Gold Medalist (2000 and 2008), Serena Williams. She has four Wimbledon championships under her belt, so I would definitely see a match between those two women if it gets to that point.

Who is going to sing with  T-pain "All I do is WIN WIN WIN NO-MATTER WHICH TENNIS PLAYER FACES ME"....... We'll about to find that out pretty soon...
Maria Sharapova

Rafael Nadal

Serena Williams

Roger Federer

Naughty Women and Soccer

Alena Seredova
If you follow this blog, by know you should know the Euro 2012 - soccer championship is going on. In the quarter finals tomorrow England will face Italy. Besides both teams having a lot of great players, if Buffon's (Italy's goal keeper) wife Alena Seradova shows up in his mind during the game or physically at the stands close to him, the game might go both ways. Either Italy will win because he'll get the little bit extra to defend each goal, YEAH for Buffon,  OR England will advance because he'll lose focus. Let's go Buffon, you can do it............. I think..........

Buffon.... Watch that Eye!

Another dilemma that's going around during the Euro championship is that women are starving for sex because their men aren't paying as much attention as they would love to. After men get home from work these days, its TV time and the game is on, they don't need no distraction....BUT.... According to an article from The Sun, women are buying naughty knickers, suspenders, and sexy bras to lure their men from watching the games. From business perspective a good thing about it companies are receiving a lot more money than they expected.....thumps up to them yea...........Sales of the naughty underwear have increased tremendously, and one of the directors for one of the boutiques said that knickers and suspenders are being bought like it was Valentine's day.
Hellllooooo...Look what I got on....
Men: Um....Hold on baby, (Screaming) PASS THE DAAAAMN BALL....Baby can you give me another bottle, thnx....(screaming) LETS GO, UGH THAT WAS ALMOST!

Oh women women women...... When the Euro 2012 is over, and the men are looking for some play time, ya'll start saying "Not tonight baby, I had a long day, let's just go to sleep okay."

It's that phrase "You want what you cant have" all over again..... you don't think so? Don't worry.... We'll see.......

Dwayne Wade to Dwayne Wayne

Fashion is what differs people from each other. Year after year something new is invented and trends are followed across the globe. Most of the times celebrities are whom people like to "copy". These days  it actually doesn't matter how big of a celebrity you are, if you dress different than others, people will look at you and make comments. Next thing you know, someone is wearing what you had on in addition to something else. On the other hand, if you are big and well known celebrity, you are definitely capable to start a new trend. Ok Enough lecture! You probably knew this from before, its basics! Lets get to the fun stuff.

Dwayne Wade along with being one of the best basketball players of all time, is also a fashion icon. Like they say he dress to impress.

Look close, do you see what I see?

Look at the outfit & the finger
Stylish huh, okay....But lately he's gone way too far as shown the pictures below.
Wait for it....

Russel said "I was the first to wear the glasses"
 Do you agree with him?
Okay, PINEAPPLES BRO!!!!!

Really? Whats your  point?
Kanye West "Two years Dwayne Wayne became Dwayne Wade"....that fits here or what....Dwayne Wayne is the guy on the right if you didn't know.

I guess you can do what he is doing when you got not 1 but 2 rings under your belt. Congrats to LeBron James who deserved the title and the Heat.

Kevin Durant getting SUED for stealing

Oh snap, I should'a been better prepared.

NBA star and scoring champ Kevin Durant is facing two huge issues. 1, if a miracle doesn't happen, he is about to lose the NBA Finals. 2, he is getting sued for using the name "Durantula" by a guitarist Mark Durante. Mr. Durante was popular in the 80's and got the name Durantula for the way he was on stage when he was performing. He claims that it's his and has the trademark registration for it.

Durant hasn't commented it yet.

Fixed Competitions in Sports

By now just about everyone has heard about the Bradley vs. Paquiao boxing match in which many are calling "a fixed match". I personally did not watch the fight but based on what I've heard from many people who did watch it, and what I've seen online it sure does sound like Bradley's victory was an unfair decision. Regardless of whether or not the judges purposely cheated Paquiao or not there is no doubt hat there are sport competitions that have been fixed in the past.

People are always suspicious about fixed games in the NBA because sometimes it seems like certain players or teams get a lot of favorable calls. The Miami Heat is a prime example of this. They have had so many favorable calls throughout the season that some have deemed the referees as the Heat's "sixth man of the year". Modern boxing matches don't usually seemed fixed but this Bradley vs. Paquiao fight surely did. Any sporting competition that involves a judge's opinion will always be subject to match fixing suspicions.

Soccer is a sport that has been notorious for match fixing in the past. During the 60's, 70's and 80's politics and soccer often mixed in European countries. Authority figures who wanted to see a certain club win would take the necessary measures to make sure that club won certain games or sometimes league titles. Sometimes money was involved to pay off referees; sometimes they would just use fear to get what they wanted. In 2006 Italian club Juventus was discovered to be involved in match fixing as they went the whole season without losing a match en route to the Italian league title. The club was relegated to the 2nd division and many of its players left the club. During the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, many people suspected that the Chinese gymnastics squad used underage girls as well as possibly receiving favorable votes from judges. Whether you believe in fixed competitions or not, there is no denying that sometimes the competitions just seem blatantly unfair.

Chris Brown, Drake & Lindsay Lohan

Apparently Chris Brown and Drake were at a party in NYC, not together but each guy had his crew with him. From what different reporters are telling us, one party started screaming at the other, and then a bottle fight broke out where people began throwing bottles at each other...... Um, we all know both of you can buy the club if you wanted to, but throwing bottles and messing up everybody else's night, not cool at all.... tsk tsk tsk....and Drake had the nerves to say "I did not participate in any kind of wrongdoings...", since you were there and said something back to Chris, or one of your peoples said something, I'm pretty sure that's party of "wrongdoings"...Influence my man! Now you just gave Common more to write about you, and you can't use that "I just asked that when you see me, speak up n"""" that's all"....Chris did, and according to the reporters, you left....but you let your guys do the bottling huh? So much for the toughness in Stay Schemin.... next line on the next song "Brizzy don't come to a club actin big, me and my crew will handle u little kid...." um... Negative, but also funny, they did mess up Chris little bit as shown on the pic.
I still think there is something about the picture below Chris does not like......
Drake: I know man, keep looking!
Last but not least....Lindsay Lohan found at a hotel by the Ocean in L.A. She passed out for some minutes, before she did that, she had called "Liz and Dick" for some assistance then she passed out.... The people at the hotel went up to her room, and she was non-responsive. Nothing major as far as right now, but she was sent to the hospital. Little girl, you'll be fine!!!

Game 2 NBA Finals 2012

I saw game 1, a lot that I didn't expect to happen so sudden happened. It is what it is and you cannot stop Russell and early-to-say MVP Kevin Durant. Wade stop saying "I gotta do what I gotta do to win".....Like PAUSE, TAKE A TIME-OUT my man..... You didn't do enough in Game 1.... LBJ, safe to say he did what he could do, came up short last 10min or whatnot but Wade could've helped him more..... OR MAYBE not... whats up with the rest of the Miami TEAM? Bosh just came back so leave him out... Haslem...OK! OKC got guns, I repeat guns......PLURAL, not one, not two, not three, but four five etc.... Miami got guns, but guns as in two guns... well maybe two and half depending on if you want to count Battier/Haslem or Bosh, up to you! They need help from the bench.... COLE? I thought he was good in the beginning of the season, or did he disappear like Lin? lmao... reminds me of those 1 single hit artists...come out from nowhere, give you the song to rock to, then gone for....well long enough!!!!

What do they need to do?
WADE, LBJ and BOSH outscore Russell, Harden and Durant! Its very possible, the chemistry is there so for Game 2, I'm going with my man WADE and the Heat, as they say EL HEAT!

EXECUTION TIME! #LEGGO
PLease stop saying World Champion Basketball. They play against teams within the UNITED STATES! It's not the world, its United States Champions, be happy with it because that's what it is!

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING EURO 2012

On Monday I told you guys the 5 biggest misconceptions about Africans so I'm gonna stay consistent with the Top 5 theme. This time I'm going to give you guys 5 reasons why you should be following the European soccer championships (EURO 2012). Enjoy!!!!

5. The commercials are very Convincing

ESPN has done a great job advertising for this tournament. They started advertising back in early May to give you a whole month to prepare yourself. Personally I've been waiting for this since EURO 2008 ended. This only comes around every 4 years and it is a very big deal. ESPN knows that this a great opportunity to not only get you excited for European soccer but it is an opportunity to show MLS commercials too so that once the tournament is over you will love soccer enough to watch the MLS. The commercials appealed to the die-hard soccer fans by showing highlights of different games. They also did a great job of making different commercials to make sure they included every nation in the ads. This is only the 3rd time an American TV station is broadcasting the European Championships but they know one thing is for sure...if the average American doesn't want to watch, at least every soccer fan in America will be watching for sure, and there's more of us than you could imagine.

4. Entertaining Fans

Europeans take the sport really serious so they love a major tournament like this. Every country in the tournament has a large group of their faithful citizens that made the trip to watch them play. They jump around and chant all game, and emphatically react to every piece of action on the field. One of the most powerful scenes in all of sports is at the beginning of an international soccer match when the players and fans join together in singing each country's national anthem. Well you get to see plenty of that in EURO 2012. If you're not really into all the crazy antics of fans during games then at least watch for the sake of all the eye candy in the stands. Those European women are very pleasing on the eye.

3. A Good Geographical and Cultural Lesson

The tournament is being co-hosted by Ukraine and Poland, two Eastern European cities that are not that popular to Americans. Each game is played in various Ukrainian and Polish cities and ESPN really does a good job of giving you nice shots of each city. It is a good opportunity to learn the names of these places and to also get a glimpse into their culture. You get to see what their architecture is like; their sense of fashion, and sometimes you will see their cuisine. After watching EURO 2012 you might even find yourself interested in visiting these countries. Their tourism department probably jumped for joy when they won their bid for hosting.

2. Great Alternative Sport to Watch

The NBA Playoffs are coming to an end and the Olympics are not until August. This means that you're stuck with the MLB regular season for that in between period. No disrespect to baseball but their season doesn't usually get interesting until September. In comes EURO 2012 to save the day. It is all month long so when the NBA Finals are over you will still be able to watch a competitive tournament where the athletes play like their lives depend on it. A lot of these players know how much their country is counting on them and they play hard not just for themselves but for the glory of their country. When it comes to major tournaments like this soccer players put their personal egos and issues aside though represent their country with pride.

1. The Best of the Best from Europe are Playing

All of the countries/teams in this tournament had to go through a rigorous multiple round qualification process (except for the hosts Poland and Ukraine who got automatic qualification for hosting). What that means is you're seeing the best Europe has to offer, and anybody who follows soccer knows that the Europeans as a whole are arguably the best in the world. They are the most tactically sound, and they also put on a good show. If you want to see the game of soccer in all it's glory then WATCH THE DAMN TOURNAMENT!!!!

5 big misconceptions about Africans

                                                       Johannesburg, South Africa

As a lot of you know I was born in Monrovia, Liberia (located in West Africa), and ever since I immigrated to the U.S. I constantly get questions about my home country and the rest of the continent of Africa. I don't mind the questions but it does upset me when people ask me specific questions that are extremely ignorant. I am going to share with you the 5 biggest misconceptions/stupid questions that I get regularly. These aren't in any specific order. This mostly applies to Americans because people that I've met who are from other countries seem to be well educated on what things are like in other parts of the world. I'm not trying to bash all Americans but I just want to clear a few things up. Brace yourselves, here we go...

5. TERRAIN/WEATHER THROUGHOUT THE CONTINENT

A lot of people tend to assume that the whole continent of Africa is one giant blazing hot jungle. Well guess what? IT'S NOT! The real jungle in Africa is in the central to southern part of the continent. Yes there is terrain in other parts of the continent that resemble what people think of as a "jungle" but not it doesn't engulf the whole continent. As far as weather is concerned yes the top half of the continent is warm/hot year round but as you go further south there are spots that have a winter season. South Africa's winter season does actually get pretty cold. It's not the blistering cold that experienced in the northern part of the U.S. but it's far from ideal temperatures. Anybody who watched the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which was hosted by South Africa probably, noticed the cold temperatures during some of the games. That also reminds me, summertime in America is wintertime in South Africa.

4. ECONOMY

The misconception about the economies of various African countries is actually not as ignorant as the others. Yes as a whole the continent does struggle economically, but over the last decade or so quite a few African countries have made drastic improvements. Many African countries are finding out what their major resources are and using either as exports or as a way to attract foreigners and boost their tourism profits. The North African countries such as Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia have become big tourist attractions. Egypt has the Pyramids to compliment the beauty of their capital city Cairo. Morocco has cities like Casablanca, Tangier, and Rabat, which is attractive to foreigners for their food, entertainment and nightlife. Tunisia gets a lot of visitors who are intrigued by its massive sand dunes along the Sahara desert, and we all know how Central and South Africa brings in millions of visitors a year to go on safaris in the jungle. The countries that don't have tourism in their favor find popular resources that can be exported. Ethiopia is one of the biggest exporters of coffee beans while the West African countries have become popular for exporting diamonds. Nothing helps validate an argument more than some statistics so I got some for you guys. Based on 2011 numbers 4 African nations (Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, and Nigeria) rank in the top 50 for countries with the highest GDP. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but South Africa and Nigeria were the only ones in that top 50 ten years ago. Also Africa ties with South America who also has 4 in the top 50 lists and beats North America, which only has U.S.A. and Mexico on that list. Asia and Europe are the only continents that beat out Africa on that list. The other positive is that there are 5 African nations that sit just outside that top 50. Watch out, the global cash flow is making its way to Africa.

Cairo, Egypt

3. KNOWLEDGE ON OTHER AFRICANS

Everybody seems to think that every African knows everything about the rest of the continent. Africa has 54 "recognized" countries and it is simply impossible to know everything about everyone of them. Someone once got frustrated with me because I couldn't answer all the questions they had about Burundi. How am I suppose to know about Burundi when it is no where near Liberia and not to be disrespectful but it is not the most significant country on the continent. That would be like me asking an average American to give me details about St. Lucia (now how many Americans even know that St. Lucia is part of North America. One thing all Africans can tell you though is that not all Africans are black, which leads me to the next major misconception.

2. LANGUAGES AND SKIN COLOR

The most frequently asked question I get is "do you speak African". It might sound like an innocent question but if you think about it that is an extremely dumb question. I use to tolerate it but these days I just simply reply by asking,  "do you speak North American?" Even the continent of Australia has smaller islands that speak separate languages. As I mentioned before there are 54 countries in Africa and they all have many languages that are spoken in the country. I'm also going to just briefly tell you that not all Africans have dark skin. The North Africans mostly descend from Middle Eastern Arabs and have extremely light skin tones. The Western, Eastern, and Central Africans are where the bulk of the dark skin toned people are. South Africans vary due to British and Dutch influence. The moral of the story here is DON'T ask an African if they speak African and don't be surprised if a light skinned person tells you they're from Africa.

Algerians

1. LIVING CONDITIONS

Thanks to the Discovery and National Geographic channels a lot of people assume all or most Africans either live in the jungle of a small village. This couldn't be further from the truth. Most Africans actually live in cities or right outside of a city. I lived in Monrovia, which is the capital of Liberia, and it is nothing like what you've probably seen on TV. The only people that live in the jungle are the Bushmen and they are few and far between. The Bushmen probably only make up about .001% of the continent's population. They are also the only ones that wear loincloths around their waist, the rest of us wear regular clothes like everyone else in the world. Believe it or not there are also wealthy people that live in compounds, which consist of a massive house along with smaller screen houses around it. While poverty is high and not every home has electricity, Africans are generally happy about their lives as we really appreciate small things like family and just being alive.

In conclusion, if you ever run into someone who says they're from Africa and you're curious about what their homeland is like just ask general questions "what languages are spoken there"? Or "did you live in a city"? Don't ask questions like "why isn't your skin dark"? Or "do you speak African"? Anyways I hope you all enjoyed my rant/educational session. God bless.
